History - Crest

Cross:   The whole design is surmounted by a cross, the symbol of salvation.

Northern Star:   Inside the cross is a star, representing Mary, the mother of Jesus and the patron saint of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, the religious order of Bishop Denis Croteau, omi.

Sun:   Symbolizing Christ the Saviour of the world, the light of the world.  The red rays signify the intensity of His love for His people.

Three figures:   Represent the three basic races of the north: Dene - Inuit - White.

Book - Bread - Cup:   Signs of Christian Unity.

Colors:   Blue - Sky and Ocean, Red - Love, Yellow - Truth.
